A Very Snowy Christmas - 25 Weeks For An Organised Christmas Week 5

Yes, it's Monday already! So, it's time for another festive post as part of our A Very Snowy Christmas, 25 Weeks For An Organised Christmas!

This week is week 5, which means there is just 20 weeks until Christmas week! Don't worry if you've fallen behind or not made a start yet, as there's still time to catch up and have a very snowy and organised Christmas!

Week 5 is all about decluttering! There's a couple of reasons I've slotted in decluttering so early in our Christmas planning journey! One of the reasons is so you can make a gradual start. I'm not saying you need to completely Marie Kondo your home but a shelf or cupboard every week will do the trick.

The biggest target of all though is for those readers with children and that's one of the reasons we're making a start right now. Here in the UK the kids are enjoying the summer holidays and although it might not seem the most ideal time to sort their things, there are some benefits to it.

First, they can get involved! This might fill you with dread and it can take some bartering when you're trying to get them to part with toys, but with them at home more you will be able to get a better idea of what they are and aren't playing with. It also gives an idea of what they might need or want when it's time to speak to Santa.

The key to get them to part with toys, apart from bribery and corruption, is to first explain that you're not throwing all their toys away and leaving them with nothing 5 months before Christmas! I've made the mistake before of saying we're going through all your toys, only for JJ to protest thinking we're getting rid of loads of them and refusing to part with any. Now, we'll go through one box or shelf at a time, splitting them into a recycle, donate and keep piles. He's much happier to part with things that way and it's an easier protest.

Whether it's too many superheros, half naked Barbies or puzzles with pieces missing is time for a sort out.

A Very Snowy Christmas will return next week and we'll be talking about food!

See you then!
