3 Little Tips For Buying A New Mattress!

Collaborative Post

A bad night's sleep can ruin a day. Whether you're employed, a stay at home parent or a mix of both, having a bad night's sleep can leave you not able to function properly and a bit grumpy!

A bad night's sleep can happen for a number of reasons. Newborn babies, well any children for that matter, can play their part, as can noisy neighbours or the snoring of your other half. For many of us though, and myself included, it's simply because you can't get comfortable, but what's the reason?

If you can't get comfy the chances are it's time to think about buying a new mattress

Mattresses though aren't something you regularly buy and might even forget about when it's covered in bedding, but it's an item you will use every single day!

Careful consideration should be given to the type of mattress you want.

First you'll need to check the size!

Obvious as it may sound, if you've bought your bed from a well known Swedish store you may have a European size mattress and not a UK one. If you're not good with knowing the difference between inches or centimeters it's also a good idea to check your sizes. I know of someone who couldn't understand why the mattress was too small when they confused the sizing and got a single mattress for a double bed!

Next, is the decision making!

Springs or no springs? Breathable cotton filling or cosy wool? Memory or gel foam? These mattress choices will mostly come down to your comfort and what you want. If you get hot and bothered in the night you'll want a breathable mattress. If you want to toss and turn less then you might want to try a memory foam. The best thing to do though is to visit a showroom and give them a try. Lay down, roll over, sit on the edge, give them a bounce and see what works best for you.

Lastly, and from the budget me, check your pricing!

According to Archers Sleep Centre, good quality mattresses vary in price and can start at a value £400 and up to a luxury £2000.  The more you want from your mattress, the more expensive it will be but it also needs to be within your budget, so start with your essentials and then see if your budget will allow you to go a little further and give you something more. Negotiate a discount if you feel confident enough or keep an eye out for sales!

With insomnia testing me right now I'd pay a million for a goodnight's sleep!
