Book of the week!

This week's book of the week is modern classic, The Gruffalo.

Hardback copy of The Gruffalo

Written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, The Gruffalo tells the story of a little brown mouse making his way through the deep dark wood. Stopped by predators, the quick thinking mouse tells them he cannot stop as he is on his way to meet a very scary creature.

A scary creature that the mouse has created himself. He describes him as having knobbly knees, a poisonous wart on the end of his nose and purple prickles all over his back. He favourite foods just happen to be the predators!

Inside the book

Only the mouse soon learns that the Gruffalo does in fact exist and wants to eat him! To save himself the mouse takes the Gruffalo on a journey back through the wood, which results in the Gruffalo being scared of him.

Inside the book

With its rhythmic story telling The Gruffalo can keep a child's attention for the whole of the book. It's nicely illustrated and leaves you routing for the little cheeky mouse! Its a must have for any collection.

Inside the book

I will always be quite fond of The Gruffalo as it is one of the books that Joseph first took an interest in and made him the little book worm that we love. Its become a favourite again this week!
