Ever since I first came across Pinterest I've wanted to try decoupage. I've had friends try it with some success but I was really concerned that I'd end up with a Pinterest fail!
After spotting some wooden letters whilst out shopping and knowing I had the fabric at home, I decided to give it a try, and it was a success!! So I'm going to share with you how I did it.
First though I should mention that I used fabric and decoupage is usually done with special paper. As with most of my crafts though, I try and keep things cheap so anyone can try them. I also wasn't about to buy a stack of decoupage paper in case I was rubbish at it!!
To create your own decoupage letter you will need.
- Wooden letter - £1.50 @ The Works
- Fabric - Mine was an off cut from my mother in law
- Scissors
- Pen
- Glue - I use Mod Podge but normal PVA will do - £1.50 @ Wilko
- Paint brush
Start by laying out your fabric and drawing round your letter with the pen.
Next cut out the letter.
Using the paint brush cover the area you are going to decoupage with PVA.
Glue the fabric to the letter. Smooth out any creases or bumps and leave to dry.
Now you have your completed decoupage letter!!
Have you tried decoupage? Or do you want to? Let me know if the comments!
