I've already given a pick for a board game and now it's the turn of a card game for the family! My pick for A Snowy Christmas Gift Guide for the family that loves card games is Tetris Speed!
For ages 6 and over, Tetris Speed can be played by as little as 2 players and up to a group of 8. For a smaller group you play using just the white cards and for a bigger group you include the purple to make the stack bigger.
To play Tetris Speed you start by shuffling the deck and taking one card and placing it face up within reach of all the players. The remaining cards are dealt out face down and as evenly as possible. Each of the cards shows one of the 7 Tetrimino shapes and along side it is the shape that must be paid next.
Once the players are ready it's time to play Tetris Speed and this isn't a game where you take it in turns! The aim is to get rid if all your cards as quickly as possible, so you need to be quick and drop your card that matches the next shape to be paid as quick as you can.
This makes the game fast to play and you need to act at speed and have your whits about you! In our house this involved a lot of squealing and 'arghhhhh'.
We loved playing and with just a pack of cards needed to play, Tetris Speed is ideal to take and play wherever you are. I also think it'll be great for kids to practice their reactions and accuracy. The same goes for older players too.
