Welcome back to A Very Snowy Christmas, 25 Weeks For An Organised Christmas Week 14!!
The week's seem to be passing so quickly and there's signs of Christmas popping up in the shops and on the TV. So, what's next for planning? Well, it's time to talk food!!
I've already mentioned about ordering your Turkey but now it's time to have a think about the rest of your Christmas food.
I find the best way to plan your festive treats and meals, and make sure nothing is missed off the list, is to think about each day your catering for. Do you have a special meal on Christmas Eve? A quick breakfast or a full English on Christmas Day morning? Nibbles for Boxing Day? Go through each day and make a list of the food you'd like to have. Also, take into consideration how many people you'll have round and how much time you want to spend cooking.
Remember to also include the regular day to day items like milk and bread. I once did a big Christmas food shop and soon realised I couldn't enjoy my usual post shop cuppa because I'd failed to buy teabags and milk!!
To make sure you get all the Christmas food goodies you want and need you'll also need to make sure that you've got the time to get it. So, make a note in your diary of when you want to go. If going in person I'm a fan of going super late or early and have been known to go as they roll the shutters up at a minute passed midnight! These days though I tend to get things gradually over the weeks leading up to Christmas and add a couple of items to my trolley each week and stock up my freezer with my purchases. It also helps spread the cost!
If doing a huge food shop during the Christmas rush fills you full of dread (another reason I do mine over a few weeks), have a look at getting your food shopping delivered! If you regularly get your groceries delivered you may find that the Christmas delivery slots have been released, so get in early and get your slot reserved. Again, make a note in your diary so you don't forget about it later on.
That's it for this week! Pop back next week when we'll be talking about two small but important purchases you need to make very soon!
