Summer Crafting Essentials

Collaborative Post

With the summer holidays just around the corner, many parents are probably wondering how they’re going to keep their little ones entertained every day for six weeks. Of course, if the weather permits, summer is a great time to explore the great outdoors, visit the seaside and have picnics in the park.

Summer is also a good opportunity to get creative with the kids, especially on days when the sun lets us down. Here are some great tools you’ll need if you plan on exploring your artistic talents with your children this summer:

1. Ribbon and coloured tape can be used as banners in your scrapbooks and they are available to purchase in such a variation of patterns and colours; the possibilities are endless!

2. Lollipop sticks are easy to paint and, believe it or not, they’re actually quite strong. One idea for lollipop sticks is to write the names of different plants or flowers at the top and pop them in your plant pots.

3. Next time you go to the beach, you and your kids could collect some pebbles or seashells to use in your next crafting project. Painted pebbles look lovely spread throughout the garden and when you’ve collected them yourself they’re that much more special.

4. Jewels can be used to decorate just about anything and they’re totally mess free if you get the self-adhesive ones.

5. All crafters will require some googly eyes at one point or another so it’s worth having some amongst your supplies.Any creation can become a creature or monster with googly eyes! These aren’t advised for young children though, who are likely to put them in their mouth.

6. Pompoms are another handy crafting tool but can also be used to aid learning, such as sorting and counting.

Just a few supplies can lead to lots of creations and are bound to fill some time over the summer.

Happy crafting!!
