In our house there's a sweet treat for every occasion. Birthday? Let's bake a cake. Friends coming round? Let's bake a couple of dozen cookies.
So, why not preheat the oven and bake a little V day treat like this one?
Want to give it a try? You'll need........
- Heart shaped tin
- Greaseproof paper
- Heart cutters
- Heart sprinkles
- Love heart sweets
- 175g self-raising flour
- 175g caster sugar
- 175g butter/baking spread
- 3 lightly beaten eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- Vanilla frosting
- Sieve
- Mixing bowl
- Whisk or wooden spoon
- Wire rack
- Plate or cake board
- Spatula or spoon
Preheat the oven to 180c and line the baking tray. Next, place the butter and sugar in the mixing bowl and mix until creamy.
Add the lightly beaten eggs and mix again.
Add the teaspoon of vanilla essence, the tablespoon of milk, sift in the flour and mix well.
Spoon the mixture into the tin and even out.
Bake for 30 minutes until golden brown. Leave to cool for a few minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Using a spoon or spatula cover the top of the cake with the vanilla frosting.
Then, place the largest heart cutter lightly in the centre of the cake.
Fill the heart with sprinkles and carefully remove the cutter.
Enjoy with a cup of tea and maybe share a piece if you're feeling the love!
