Just like last week's movie of the week we've gone a bit witchy! This witch though is probably one of the most famous of them all, as is the movie in which she features!
This week's movie of the week is.....The Wizard of Oz!
Many of you will already know the plot of this classic but just in case you don't, The Wizard of Oz is the story of Dorothy, a young girl from Kansas, played by the amazing Judy Garland.
Trapped in her house during a storm, Dorothy is swept off to the magical and unusual land of Oz. Accidentally killing the Wicked Witch of the East as her house lands in Munchkinland she is warmly greeted by the residents for saving them from her tormenting. But her sister, the Wicked Witch of the West, doesn't take the news well, especially after Glinda, a good witch, puts the magically ruby slippers on to Dorothy's feet!
On the advice of Glinda, Dorothy and her dog Toto, start on the journey along the yellow brick road to the Emerald City to escape the witch and ask the Wizard for help returning home. Dorothy makes friends along the way as she is joined by Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion, each of them wanting to see the Wizard.
With the Wicked Witch of the West soon on their trail can they reach the Wizard before the she catches up with them?
Well that would be telling wouldn't it?
The Wizard of Oz is a great family film and quite possibly one of the best films ever made. It is great Sunday afternoon viewing or in our case everyday for the last week! We could watch it over and over and have done!
Now although its a U certificate some children may find the film frightening in odd places, especially when the green faced Wicked Witch of the West makes an appearance! Not that it bothered our 3 year old, Joseph, though! He just wanted to watch it again and again.
We've had our copy of The Wizard of Oz for a while but it's currently available at Amazon for £4.99 here!
Happy watching!
