Movie of the week!

This week's movie of the week, unlike most of our previous ones, is a current, still at the cinema movie! It also involved Joseph's first trip to the cinema!

This week's movie of the week is Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience!

To be honest I'm not sure where I got the bright idea from! Seriously what possessed me to take a 2 year old to the cinema??!!! Well, it was the Easter break and at least a day had been written off due to me being in agony with my neck and legs, so I really wanted to do something to make it up to Joseph. Daddy really wanted to give him a trial run at the cinema ahead of the Cars 3 release and, well, Joseph had seen the advert and there had been lots of "me, me, me see Peppa on the big telly". Instagram and Facebook told me that some of our friends had taken their toddlers, so surely we needed to do the same??

A quick car journey and £28 later (??!!) we'd picked our seats and were in the cinema.

The seats Daddy had picked were on the front bloody row. We explained to Joseph there would be other people there and he had a fussy of moving his chair, looking round, rustling his sweets etc and then the first trailer came on. After which he promptly asked to go home.

Daddy did his best to explain the set up to him again and he watched another trailer and asked again to go home. We told him we'd go home after Peppa had been on and have diddy (dinner). The thought of more food settled him for about half and hour. Then there was bit of wandering around, which luckily didn't matter as we were at the front. Apparently that was why Daddy picked those seats. Ok Daddy, whatever. There were a couple of rounds of musical chairs, without the music but with Mummy saying "sit down" to make him stop. Then there was peaking through the chairs at other people like something from a horror movie.

Did any of this matter? No, because most of the parents were in the same boat and it wasn't Grandpa Pig's. There were kids laughing, babies crying and lots of loo trips, but that's what makes Peppa Pig: My First Cinema Experience the ideal opportunity to give the cinema a try. It's a bit more relaxed. There's no shushing, just plenty of giggles, singing along, dancing and no "I'm bored" from the kids.

With the hour long film broken up into segments the little ones don't have much chance to be bored. A very happy, if not a little annoying, TV style presenter, keeps things moving along, with a puppet Peppa and George to keep her company.  During the animated periods we see Peppa visit London and meet the Queen, and we see the whole pig family journey to Australia.

My fave Mrs Rabbit also make an appearance as the driver of the school bus. Bless that rabbit she has so many bloody jobs but she does know the Queen!

Overall, as much as Peppa Pig drives me slightly round the twist this film experience really does open up the chance to take your kids to the cinema in a relaxed environment and test the water for future visits.

If you fancy giving it a try check your local listings.

Enjoy!

  1. I think it's a good film to take kids to as their first cinema trip, no one minds if they make noise etc when it's full of little ones! #DreamTeam

    1. I recently found on a day date with daddy that its much cheaper in the day, in the week, so if you can take them then and save a few quid! I was shocked how much it was!

  4. I took Oscar to see this a few weeks ago, and although he thoroughly enjoyed it, I have to admit the woman in it really annoyed me! LOL. I'm so glad I wasn't alone as I thought I was just being mardy :p

I'm glad Joseph had a good day out at the cinema. I love taking my two to see movies. As long as they have a box of popcorn and a drink, they're happy! #SundayBest

  6. We went to see this as our first ever cinema attempt with our two! (2 & 4). Our little managed to last his way through most of the film but only because his hands and mouth were pretty much stuck to his pick and mix bag. (Literally - it took a lot of baby wipes to sort him out afterwards haha). It was good fun though and like you - I think that the little interludes, although irritating, were a blessing! Thanks for sharing with #DreamTeam and I'm pleased you had a fab time! x
