Autumn Spotters

Remember back in the Spring when I did the activity to spot the signs of the new season? Well, here's one for the Autumn!

Here's what you should look for when the weather starts to turn autumnal.

The turn of the trees

One of the main sights to confirm Autumn is on the way is the leaves changing. Can you spot the following colours?

Yellow leaves on a tree
(Yellow Leaves)

Red leaves on a tree

Brown leaves on a tree
(Brown Leaves)

Things that grow

Autumn is a great time to see things that grow, which you wouldn't normally see in Spring. How many can you spot?

Blackberry bush poking through a fence
(Blackberries)

Acorns being held in a sack
(Acorns)

Conker split open and lying on the woodland floor
(Conkers)

Animals preparing for winter

Some animals head to warm climates for winter and some stay here but hoard food to see them through the winter months. Which animals can you see?

Geese flying south

(Squirrel)

Hedgehog
(Hedgehog)

A change in clothing

People will start to wear warm clothes and maybe wellingtons. Can you spot them?

A thick woolly scarf
(Scarf)
Thick winter coat
(Winter coat)
Wellingtons in a puddle
(Wellington Boots)

A turn in the weather

The weather will begin to become colder and wetter. What signs of a change in weather can you spot?

Rain

A child splashing in puddles
(Puddles)

Frost on a car

Now pull on your coats, possibly your wellingtons too and lets go looking for Autum!

  1. Great post and a fun activity for little ones, although I think here in the UK we can spot the rain in any season lol

  2. Love this! We love autumn in our house and I think we've spotted all of these so far! In fact, I keep discovering random acorns and conkers hidden around our house that my son has brought home with us - for his memory box apparently, yet somehow they never stay there! 4. I love this - Autumn is my favourite season I think. We found loads of conkers the other day, and we've seen lots of noisy geese flying in their big Vs too. #SharingTheBlogLove
